Sustainability is the bedrock of DeepGEO.

DeepGEO is a US-based company with regional teams in Africa, Canada, and Finland which is developing multinational repositories for the disposal of spent nuclear fuel.

With a focus on sustainable resource management and a clean energy future, DeepGEO works with its partners to provide a solution to this environmental challenge while promoting economic healing for under-served communities.

DeepGEO was born in the rugged hills of northern Canada

Company founder Link Murray was invited to join an eclectic group of environmentally-conscious fishermen, farmers, preachers, activists, and geologists who had begun brainstorming ways to empower indigenous people to improve their lives.

Operation of repository

Despite an abundance of natural resources, relatively few benefits had been realized by the local communities. Could the stable granite beneath the surface of their land be used for the safe and sustainable disposal of nuclear waste? Planning began in earnest to create the world’s first multinational repository for spent nuclear fuel.

It was a model that could be replicated worldwide. People in other regions around the world began to take interest in DeepGEO and so regional teams were set up for both Ghana and Somaliland.

Multinational repositories are not a new concept. Outside of the nuclear sector the import and export of waste is common. Where previous attempts to establish multinational repositories have failed, DeepGEO will succeed by applying an innovative commercial business model, forming key national and regional partnerships, and pursuing multiple locations.

The trust fund

A crucial part of our business model is a multi-billion dollar  trust fund from accumulated customer deposits.

This will be applied to support sustainable infrastructure development in the host country and customer country, as well as regional nuclear energy development.

Disposal fees from customer countries

A minimalist, green and yellow outline icon shows a cooling tower on the left and a horizontal pipe or ductwork structure on the right, likely representing an industrial facility or power plant.

Reinvestment in sustainable development in host region

A light green location pin icon is encircled by two green arrows forming a circular motion. The arrows are pointing clockwise, indicating the concept of recycling or continual process related to location or navigation. The background is transparent.

Reinvestment in customer country

People

Our teams place the highest importance on community education and involvement, to obtain and maintain the social licence needed to for repository construction and operation. We are inherently consent-based.

Planet

Our goal of providing flexible and practical solutions for nuclear waste can only be achieved by adhering to strict international standards. We also intend to clean up the legacy waste from polluting industries so that we leave the environment cleaner than when we began.

Trust

We are partnering with recognised nuclear industry companies to provide proven solutions to the waste challenge. Leading experts advise and support our operations in the areas of technology, politics and international law.

Overcoming challenges together with international experts

DeepGEO is pursuing market innovation, not technology. We are committed to working with leading industry partners and proven technologies to deliver a reliable solution, rather than taking on the risks of R&D and certification.

DeepGEO is fully aware of the international legal framework affecting the storage and transfer of nuclear materials affecting the places we intend to operate. Where necessary, we are working with international experts to overcome obstacles.
